Hello! My name is Gabriel McKinsey. I’m currently a Professional Researcher in Dr. Thomas Arnold’s lab in the UCSF Department of Pediatrics and the UCSF Neonatal Brain Research Institute. My research focuses on the embryonic and neonatal development of the neuroimmune system. In particular, I study the role of Itgb8-mediated TGF-B signaling in the development and homeostasis of microglia and other brain macrophages. I have also done work in Tom’s lab focusing on the study of brain fibroblast/macrophage interactions in development and disease.
